Wonderful Doardar Sozni hand-embroidered cashmere pashmina in ochre. Hand-spun and hand-loomed cashmere from Ladakh embroidered by the artisan Abdul Ahad, and took him two months to complete. Sublimely soft cashmere specially selected from the finest Grade 'A' fibres. Handwoven in a twill weave in a classic design which is very easy to wear, and a beautiful collection piece. The drape and feel of this shawl are beautiful and the fabric is as light as a feather.
The raw pashmina wool is collected from private herds of Changthani goats which are then washed, carded, and de-haired. De-hairing is the process of removing the guard hair (thick hair) from the pashmina fibres so that only the finest hairs remain.
The baby soft pashmina is then spun by hand converting the soft fibre into an ultrafine yarn that even modern technology would struggle to achieve. Hand spinning is a traditional craft in Kashmir.
The shawl will be supplied with a book entitled 'The Kashmir Shawl', which will create a backdrop for you of the 'landscape and lives' where these shawls are created.
